Integrity is my No 1 value, so when Mudrika and I were planning the Investment Mastery Christmas Party, it would be right to include exercises that would ‘stretch’ all of us, including myself, and be loads of fun as well. I can’t expect our investment mastery clients to play full out if the team didn’t too, can I!
(‘Stretch’ is when you do something, a task of some sort, which is out of your comfortzone, and you push through, play full out and EVERY TIME feel incredible afterwards)
The team were told to dress up warm, expect a long day and bring an open mind.
We started with a huge wine filled lunch in the Italian restaurant just along from the trading rooms here in Elstree. It was great to celebrate the end of a very busy year for us (for lots of different reasons), and there was a real sense of winding down now we all know that there are no more events to deliver this year.
While I was passing round presents, and in amongst the thank yous, congratulations, Mandy’s birthday cake and singing, presents and glasses of wine, there was a real sense of achievement for me bubbling underneath. It’s a great feeling to have a team who is becoming very effective (one of my favourite aspects!), and to know that the business is running smoothly.
After the lunch things became a bit tense as I walked the team around the car park, pretending that we were going into the shopping centre for the stretch…. but in fact we all got into a stretch limo – well, party bus, much to their relief!
Dean cracked open the bubbly, we cranked the music up, and drove off to a surprise location…… Mandy was all set for her challenge – and to sing the first song but my stretch came earlier than I expected when the karaoke machine didn’t work (talk about manage my state) and we had to scrabble for iphones to fill the gap (I don’t think the team were as gutted as me), and we sung anyway, then we realised the bubbly was non-alcoholic.
That didn’t stop us from making the best of it and by the time we got to Hyde Park, and sung to our signature tune on several occasions, we were in good spirits.
Here’s the song of the moment, which we are all singing in the office today. Jessie J Price Tag.

Winter wonderland at Hyde Park was spectacular. We didn’t go near the food which was a
shame because it looked great, but we did go on the rides. Lisa scaled new heights literally when she went on the ridiculously high drop ride (a first in 25 years for her). Paul won his son a stuffed toy, and beat me and Dave on the rope ladder challenge.
If that wasn’t enough the final treat was to get to the theatre and watch a show. Mamma Mia was Mamma Mia incredible. Faultless (and Im fussy). It is a must see funny, sing a long good feeling show. If you haven’t already, then go – go – go. You will have an amazing time. Nitzan was the first person in the whole theatre to get out of her seat for the standing ovation. Way to go! This was Avi’s 3rd time (one last week, and he still remained cheery about it!).
Phill managed to go the whole day without being sick after he ate a dodgy prawn at lunch. Even our newest member of the team, Bryonie, was still dancing and singing in the bus when we dropped her off at midnight.

We’re all back today with big smiles on our faces, (even Mudrika, superwoman, who managed the party on no sleep from the night before or last night thanks to out darling daughters.)
Happy Christmas everyone, and I look forward to seeing you in 2012.
