We moved house over the weekend – this has been 4 times in as many years and we hope we won’t have to move again. While unpacking I found a book and it has some interesting information about one of the world’s richest men …
John D Rockefeller
Most people don’t know that John D Rockefeller, who was one of the first billionaires in the world through National Oil, a monopoly he created by ruthlessly combining oil companies in US, was a constant worrier. He worried about money all his life. One story goes that he refused to pay £150 to insure a ship that was going to brin g in cargo worth £40,000 because he didn’t want to spend the money. He was a billionaire at this time.
An other story is that his brother sent him a Christmas card one year, ‘To the Richest Man in the world, from the Wealthiest man in the world’ because his brother knew the difference between money and true wealth.
John D Rockefeller was so ill with worry that he was near his deathbed bed in his 50s. Deciding to change, he then spent the second half of his life giving it away.
What is your purpose?
At our graduate meeting yesterday we had an excellent talk by Richard Jacobs on the subject of your Life Purpose. One of the most important questions you can ask yourself, and the most seldom asked is what is your purpose in life? Mostly people strive to do things because they want to be free and contribute more. Once you have found your purpose, you become unshakeable, all the ‘noise’ has gone. a great example of this is Ghandi. When he was at school Ghandi was terrified of public speaking and yet when he had a purpose, which was to liberate all oppressed people in the world, he became an amazing public orator and kicked England out of India without raising a fist.
Without finding your life you expend so much energy fighting internally. Your mind is going around so fast, eyes everywhere thinking thinking thinking but not focused. When you find your purpose there is a stillness because a lot of the questions have already been answered.
You already know what the Purpose of your life is. All you need is to ask yourself the right questions. To get these questions, you can either read the short book, ‘What’s your purpose?’ by Richard Jacobs or take the free online Purpose test at www.richard-jacobs.com.
Awesome stuff
Until next time
