Trading Results, and My 5 TV Minutes Of Fame…..

Welcome to the new-look blog

We are excited about several changes that will occur to our different sites over the next few weeks.  Many of you will know that WordPress platforms are the way to go, and this blog is now, apparently – easier to use…..

So, apart from the new look, the content will gear more towards trading and investing, and the results that our students are achieving so you can be inspired, as well as having a few wealth creation hints and tips,  and of course I’ll be including snippets of news about the family!

So for this week I thought I would regale you with some stories from my intra-day trading days back in 2001/02. At that time I had negotiated half days at work so I could rush back home for the start of the US trading session. I was still a relative novice, having started my education back in 1999, and was eager to see what I could do.

One of these days I remember being particularly cold and so I had turned on the little heater I had in my room. I started trading and after a few minutes it was starting to get warmer, I was starting to feel drowsy, the computer was humming away and before I knew it I had dozed off!

Half an hour later I woke up with a fright, realising I had been in a live trade while sleeping. In panic I scrambled to find the P&L (Profit and Loss) of my position and in amazement realised I had made more money while sleeping than I had made the entire week of trading.

This taught me three major trading lessons  (and a few minor ones) – lessons about how I behaved as a trader.

1. I got in my own way and got out of trades too fast while conscious

2. The market needs time to move – and moving to a higher time frame was what I decided to do.

3. Intra-day trading probably wasn’t for me

Marcus and Mudrika on BBC

Some of you might know that we were filmed last year as part of a 3-part TV series called Money.  We were told that the first episode, ‘So you want to be a millionaire’  would come out in Autumn of 2011, and just yesterday we received an email from the BBC, confirming that they have agreed on a ” transmission date for the programme  ‘MONEY’.

The series will be shown weekly at 9pm on BBC-2, beginning on Tuesday 29^th November.  My contribution is in this first episode.

A lot of people were interviewed, including Robert Kiyosaki, T Harv Eker and myself, so I don’t expect more than a few minutes of air-time but it was a fun experience – they even filmed the Wealth Workout, Mudrika playing with Melania and me huffing and puffing on the tennis court with my coach on the hottest day of the year.

It was hilarious because I think he thought the filming was about him and started ordering me around left right and centre, which meant I looked like an unfit newbie who had just bought some tennis gear but didn’t have a clue how to play!

Hmm, sounds about right …

Avi Trading update

Avi just informed me that he was up 13% on his portfolio for the month, a very solid return. Our monthly news trade on Non Farm Payroll went well, which is to be expected in the current volatility.

Latest ‘Your Trading Club’ Competition Winner

Last weekend (5th November) was our Momentum Day for members of Your Trading Club. Dan Varley (pictured) was our competition winner whose trading has been a spectaculat success. Dan made 36% over 6 weeks, shorting the market and wins a prize of his choice – a ticket to the Spreadbetting Workshop. Congratulations, Dan and thanks for being an inspiration to us all.
