Yo! Marketing by Simon Woodroffe & Chris Cardell. Working Lunch & News!

M&M OK I might as well let out the news we have been hinting at … Mudrika is pregnant again. We are both very excited at the prospect of growing our family. We were going to announce it earlier, but there were some health complications. We still have one small complication but apart from that it is all good.

Our new addition is expected early February 2011. Great news and because we were having so many scans we also found out the sex of the baby too. Yipee, we won’t have to buy different colour clothes! It seems a long time ago now it was just the two of us. Things change so fast.

It was my birthday last week. Another year. They seem to be coming thick and fast. Next year is a biggie Happy-Birthday-old-fella for Mudrika so I will have to pull something special out of the bag. They say you should never ask a lady her age or advertise it, all I’ll say is that I am already worried about what to do to make it one to remember – any ideas would be very welcome!

As I didn’t work too much on my birthday I was listening to a really interesting audio interview between Chris Cardell and Simon Woodroffe, the founder of Yo Sushi. I have heard Simon speak live twice and also met him briefly once a few years back.

Simon woodroffe I remember him well on Dragons Den in the very first series, when he admonished the others for being negative and not supportive enough to the people in the Den. I agreed with him, although that is the point of Dragons Den, otherwise they would have given it another name, like Angel’s Forum, because in effect they are business angels, so by giving it a name like Dragon’s Den means that they are expected to give the entrepreneurs a roasting.

Simon was saying that a mentor is someone who has been around a lot longer and made more mistakes. But now that he is a mentor to others he realises that he doesn’t know that much more – but since he has been around longer he is someone who knows what questions to ask. I thought that was very inciteful and it made me think …

Lunch If the secret to success is as simple as finding someone who is where you want to be and asking them to mentor you so you can get there faster … then how many people actually do this? Are you really actively looking to meet successful business people to pick their brains? Are you asking them if you can buy them a drink / coffee / lunch? I mean actively? You may need to ask more than once, these people are busy. Sometimes we are so in the doing of it all, we forget the basics. Remember that it is not what you know, it is who you know. And if you can make the experience a great one i.e. over lunch or dinner then what’s stopping you?

Is it something you can prioritise and make a must-do?

Meeting Our members and graduates meeting is this Sunday (12th) in central London and we have just the kind of person that you should be seeking out, as our guest speaker. You would have read all about him on the members site, and in your emails. If you are interested in attending and need the details email the office
info (@) investment-mastery.com.  Make the time this week to come along and meet the Investment Mastery team, myself and our speaker – we would love to see you there.

Our face to face meetings are unique. None else in this industry offers the kind of follow up support that we do at Investment Mastery. Its the support that can ensure that you succeed and get consistent profits – Lee has started at 1% a week (that’s what you get in a YEAR at the bank)-  he is on to make 52% a year at this rate.

“The follow up support is something that differentiates Investment Mastery. You get regular access to senior traders who answer your questions and make comments on potential trades. They also identify stocks and why they are considering them.  This support goes on for as long as you need it!

I am just starting to make consistent profits trading (1% per week). I now want to generate an income every month from my trading to supplement my existing income.
(Lee Berridge, recent graduate & member)

Our senior traders will be at the meeting – come and speak to Paul Harrison – talk to him about your next steps.

Talking of Chris Cardell, if you are a business owner and want to grow your business, you should really
google him. He gives very sane business and marketing coaching and advice. Jonathan Jay, founder of NABO – National Association of Business Owners,  gave me a ticket to one of Chris’ 3 day events and I have to say it was very good. He is doing work with marketing giant Dan Kennedy and Jonathan swears by him. Good enough for me.

Kempinksi I was in Bruges over the bank holiday on a weekend break with Mudrika – it was the first time away together without Melania. We travelled by Eurostar and it is a comfortable 4 hour journey if you include the waiting around for trains. We stayed at the 5 star Kempinski hotel and I ate as much mussels & fries, chocolate and drank as much beer as I could manage (that’s not much – since I don’t really drink, my maximum is one sweet beer per meal but it still felt like quite a lot!) It really is a beautiful little city with much of the historic city centre intact. We did the whole tourist thing including boat rides and horse and carriage rides at night. Yup, Mudrika was suitably impressed. Top marks for me!

Talking of firsts – Melania did something really cute which all parents know about. She fell asleep on her plate while eating. She was so tired she actually fell asleep with her face in the food. You have to see it to believe it. A real cute moment and hysterical laughter from her parents and we totally forgot the camera!

Not so cute is that she will take every opportunity to wander into the kitchen and open up the cupboards and empty the contents onto the floor. I am not kidding when I say I have to bring her back into the living room 10 times a day. Open spaced kitchen = good idea. Open spaced kitchens with a toddler = bad idea.More pix next time – she’s growing up so fast! Wait till there’s two of them …….. I think I need a lie down…….

Until next week

Marcus
